Why buy when you can subscribe for cycles? Bengaluru Cycles On
Vehicle subscriptions seem to be the new trend in the City. And if it can happen for cars, can cycles be far behind?
With more people trying to live a sustainable life, cycle subscription schemes are catching up with the people of the city as more of them are opting for partial ownership rather than keeping it permanently.
Pruthvi Gowda, CEO of Gro Club, said, “In the last one month we saw about 150 subscriptions. We have a range of up to 15 years where people can subscribe for the cycle, and use it, and they have to pay only 30 per cent of the market price.”
Vartika G, a resident of Dasarahalli said, “I recently subscribed a cycle for my son. I think a subscription is a way better option than to purchase it because as my son grows up his need for a bicycle will change and we will have to buy new ones. Hence, the subscription option is very feasible.”
Amitha Srinivas, a resident of Yeshwantpur, said she was thinking of buying a new cycle till recently. “I thought buying a cycle would be a waste of space as well as money. After a while my daughter might shift to a twowheeler and the cycle will be rendered useless. Since we have spent so much money after it, we would obviously not give it away for free. Even if we are selling it, we will not get a good price. Hence, for me, subscription is always the better option.”
Rather than investing so much money on a new cycle, I subscribed to a cycle for 1 year. If I can make a good number of rides, I will subscribe for next year — Vineet Raj, businessman
People say that they prefer the subscription scheme because they do not have to worry about the maintenance costs of the cycle as the company takes care of that.
So, they would be able to have a hassle-free ride without worrying about things like warranty and repairs.
Not just for kids, people are using the subscription scheme to get the bicycles for themselves as well. Vineet Raj, a businessman staying in Rajajinagar, said, “I like going for cycle rides but due to work pressure I cannot go every day. Hence, rather than investing so much money on a new cycle, I subscribed to a cycle for 1 year. If I am able to make a good number of rides, I will subscribe for the next year as well. It’s way better than buying a brand new cycle and regretting not being able to use it every day.”
